This triple trophy winner from Lawson’s Dry Hills rocked the judge’s palates at the 2013 International Wine Challenge which had them falling over themselves to hand out trophies. The LDH 2012 Reserve Sauvignon took home the NZ Sauvignon Trophy, NZ White Trophy, and the International Sauvignon Blanc Trophy. Who could blame them really – from the get go this single vineyard wine had the room upgrade all the way through its life. Sourced from the Fryer Road vineyard the carefully nurtured vines drunk artesian water – and lived in heavy soils producing big flavours. It is these big flavours and fruit intensity that drive the character of this punchy Sauvy but it is the depth and refined texture of its finish, is what puts into the Trophy class.
