Central Otago, New Zealand

Andy and Misha Wilkinson created this rising star after living 16 years living in Asia. With the idea of creating Asian suited wines and pursuant of a Pinot Noir passion the vision was to develop a journey they could experience together. That journey started on the eastern shores of Lake Dunstan in 2003. As Misha and Andy had sales and marketing backgrounds the internationally renowned winemaker Olly Masters joined the journey for his Central Otago winemaking debut.
The evolution of Misha’s Vineyard so far, as produced some outstanding wines championed by Central Otago’s flagship – Pinot Noir, understudied by equally exquisite wines designed with and for the experience of exotic flavours. As the accolades keep rolling in for all the experiences this Central Otago star produces now in its auspicious 8th vintage some of most noted would UK Decanter’s mag naming one of NZ Top 20 Producers, and receiving the ‘Gold Outstanding’ award at the IWSC for the Verismo 2010 – 1 of only 2 New World Pinot Noirs awarded such an honour.

Winemaker: Olly Masters Internationally renowned winemaker Oliver Masters (Olly) is the Winemaker for Misha’s Vineyard. Forging some of New Zealand’s most consistently fine pinot noir over the past decade, Olly has carved a reputation as one of New Zealand’s leading winemakers and wine judges. Starting his career in Martinborough in 1989, Olly has also worked in Hawkes Bay, Martinborough and Burgundy Making his Central Otago ‘debut’, Olly’s role with Misha’s Vineyard is probably best described as “Director of Style & Taste”
Viticulturalist: Michelle Dacombe grew up in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, moved to NZ in 2005 where she embarked upon a career in agriculture which started in a Central Otago vineyard, and is now supplemented with a National Certificate in Horticulture. With a stint in Marlborough and a few seasons in the orchards, Central Otago’s leading wine producers in organic vineyards drew her back. Michelle passionate about her industry helps put together the Markham’s Young Viticulturist Competition of which she was the 2012 runner up.
Director: Misha Wilkinson came from a theatrical family watching her mother singing opera. Misha started her career also in the theatre in marketing roles and then within the IT sector with many years based in Singapore. More recently promoting New Zealand based products across the South-East Asia region. Although not a “Kiwi” by birth, she is by ‘acquisition’ – she married one! And since she is a confirmed All Blacks supporter, the locals overlook her Australian heritage. With a long-term obsession for cows, Misha knew the decision to get into the wine business was the right one when she realised the acronym for Central Otago Wine
Director: Andy Wilkinson has spent most of his life in IT, and brings his business expertise and sales experience to round out the team. A New Zealander by birth and with many family ties in the Otago region, Andy’s long term passion for wine has been fulfilled in co-founding Misha’s Vineyard. Being able to share time between home in beautiful Central Otago and visiting our customers around the world is the “ultimate lifestyle” says Andy. “We have hired the best viticulturist, best vineyard manager and the best winemaker available in New Zealand, and I married the best marketer. What more does this company need”?
