Obsidian Montepulciano 2014

Waiheke Island, New Zealand
  • Let your tastbuds experience the full Monte!
  • Obsidian's 2014 Montepulciano brings a new flavour sensation to the regular Waiheke red wine line up. Perfect for pizza on the beach.
  • As a brillant partner to your home cooked pizza this Italian grape will roll around your tongue just as its name does. Mon-tee-pul-chee-AH-no delivers characteristics of savoury plums, wild herbs, and bramble pie in amongst a mid weighted succulent body - Bellissmo!
Obsidian have been producing this Italian stallion for a number of years declassifying it into their Weeping Sands label but the sands of time have changed and Monte has had a promotion. Now labelled has Obsidian the new look as caught the eye of the critics. Sam Kim rated it with 91points and more recently it just got honored with a gold from the NZ International Wine Show. Like its name, the flavours of Montepulciano (mon-tee-pul-chee-AH-no) will glide off your tongue with a few twist along the way. For those who haven't tried this grape it has characters a lot like a savoury merlot. Perfect with Pizza of course! but not bad with herb encrusted lamb or your favourite Lasagna - Bellissimo.
