Hi, You're receiving this email because {name} thinks the Left Field Flying Boatship Syrah 2015 would interest you. Hawke's Bay, New Zealand
  • The Flying Syrah!
  • Richard Painter turns left, with a lighter styled Syrah utilizing some fancy new clones to express the varietals primary fruit characters
  • Soft berries and red rose aromas softly fill up your nose, while red and black berries flavours fill up your mouth. This 100% Syrah is a lighter expression of the grape but still retains a full spectrum of the grapes characters including a the hints of craked pepper and fruit spice for the more traditionalists.
Te Awa started life like many other wineries in the Bay as grazing land until in 1992 until the 50ha plot in now famous Ginmblett Gravels was put to better use - winegrowing. Named after the sites Maori name of Te Awa o Te Atua meaning River of God, In keeping with the Left field philosophy of think left, drink right, the creation of Leftfield Syrah showcases innovation and discovery on the Te Awa soils. Flash new clones have been planted with the great ability to exude the grape’s primary characters. These grapes were harvested in individual vineyard parcels then fermented by natural yeasts and aged in extra-large French oak before blending and bottling. This wine is a naked expression of the Syrah grape with immediate soft berry red rose aroma’s softly filling up your nose. This medium weighted Syrah reveals refreshing varietal flavours of red and black berries following on what is suggested on the nose. For the more traditionalists this lighter style of Syrah honest, does provide a sense of full weight grunt with savoury leather and hints of fruit spice and touches oak from the 300L aging barrels. Go into this experience with an open mind, and you will be rewarded for trying something out of leftfield
