Vidal is one of the oldest labels in industry, started by a young Spaniard Anthony Vidal back in 1905. Now under the Villa Maria group and under the watchful eye of winemaker Hugh Crichton the Legacy label pays homage Anthony through some remarkable drops. The Legacy Chardonnay is indeed a bonafide NZ Classic and as Vidal was the first winery to open a restaurant you know its going to be great with food. After being wooed by the taste of Vidal's 2013 legacy Chardonnay is what the Chair of Judges and Master of Wine, Michael Brajkovich said about the golden drop, "The Champion Wine of the Show is a very good example of the new wave of Chardonnay style we are seeing in New Zealand, but still borrows from the great white Burgundy tradition. It has vibrant peach and nectarine fruit aromas seamlessly integrated with smoky toasted oak"
