Gravel Pit pays homage to the ancient riverbed rocks that once formed the
Ngaruroro River, The river was forced to choose a different route to the sea leaving a large pit of gravels - perfect for grapevines and the growth of plump juicy Merlot and Malbec grapes. Steve Smith who knows a thing or two about juicy grapes
along with the Wild Rock team have harnessed these wild an rocky flavours to produce an award winning rock'n red. Fully sustainable Wild Rock looks after its local environment as well as your mouth.
Even after 14 months just relaxing in oak barrels Gravel Pit still retains a sweet fruited core of plums and blackberries dusted with florals, and woody oregano. A very approachable drop now but with increasing intensity over the next few years. Brilliant partner to beef, vension pizza, or herby lamb racks.
