Main Divide Chardonnay 2018

Waipara, New Zealand
  • A second label with first flavours providing outstanding value
  • From the Waipara stable of Pegasus Bay, the Main Divide label that has enough attention grabbing characteristics as the mountain range it’s named after.
  • Citrus and mineral acid flavours are dominant, as soon as you experience this wine, subsiding to the softer fruits of melon and peach after the wine mellows in your mouth. Evidence of the 18 months spent in old oak appears as buttered toast characteristics. But it is the backbone of mineral acid that defines this wine showing some serious hang time in the mouth. Ultimately this is a great value Chardonnay with great flavour complexity perfect to accompany dishes, like an apricot chicken or prawn salad.
  • Case of 6 ($16.90/bottle)
From the stable of Pegasus Bay in Waipara, Main Divide Chardonnay delivers a slightly younger styled wine, but still retains complex characteristics gained from Pegasus Bay’s expert winemaking team, which are normally seen in the more pricey winged horse Chardonnays. The design of Main Divide is all about fruit expression, but offers typical Chardonnay characteristics as flavour sideshows, like the toastiness from the oak, and buttery characteristics from the malolactic fermentation. The end result is that 2018 Main Divide Chardonnay delivers fruit flavours by bucketfuls, under a the support of its mineral backbone - Canterburian to the core!

Main Divide Pinot Gris 2018

Main Divide Pinot Gris 2018

Waipara, New Zealand
  • Mouth-watering Gris with a thoroughbred pedigree
  • Only a recent addition to the Main Divide cellar but what a wine to blast onto the Pinot Gris scene.
  • The ‘Main Divide’ of NZ’s South Island sets the backbone for the terroir of this wine. This backbone is emulated in the wine with its natural acidity providing a lengthy mineral backbone. Hanging off it are fruit flavours of peaches, guavas and spicy pear along with secondary characteristics of barrel fermentation, ageing all encompassed by a gorgeous swirl of mouth filling creamy texture.
