MANWWARSPT14

Man O' War Warspite 2014

Ponui Island, New Zealand
  • Regal red full of power!
  • In fine tradition Man O War's Warspite is named after the WW1 warship that was know for its speed and power.
  • Grown on Ponui Island, where it's probably the only wine in the world that relies on the tide to be picked!
  • Case of 6 ($37.90/bottle)

Three times a charm. 2014 represents the fourth vintage for Man O War Warspite and what beauty it is. Warspite represents the red vineyards from Ponui Island – 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot leaving 10% of Malbec. Warspite’s regal red blend delivers elegance and power emulating the WW1 battleship it’s named after. The Royal Navy’s Warspite was ‘fast’ for its time which is what the vineyard pickers have to be on Ponui, as they can only land and depart on favourable incoming tides. It seems the Man O War team love a challenge.

Central Otago, New Zealand
  • Location, Location, Location
  • Grown from the premium seating of the vineyard’s Dress Circle, this extravert doesn’t just sit back and watch, but headlines the show, and what a performance it is!
  • Act 1 invites the audience’s noses into the fruit vibrancy of an apple and pear forest planted in mineral stones littered with floral petals. The taste in Act 2 inolves the fruit purity of succulent pears, peach florals followed by stone minerals and white spices. The performance of Dress Circle is textural, elegant, and always balanced sliding through your mouth invigorating with every scene, especially when food is the supporting actor.
