The Impromptu Pinot from Misha’s Vineyard offers a spur of the moment wine experience ready for any occasion. In designing this all in one Pinot Noir, internationally renowned winemaker Olly Masters has created a Central Otago Pinot that is versatile in style. Impromptu highlights the fruit grown on the shores of Lake Dunstan, but still packs tannic strength when needed. Impromptu is estate grown owned by the self-confessed Pinotphiles Andy and Misha Wilkinson. The 2016 growing season was up and down, but thanks to the vineyard team’s talents the pinot grapes were handpicked with excellent varietal characteristics, before they were small batched chilled and cold soaked. The grapes then had a natural ferment and prolonged skin contact of 3 weeks for tannin extraction and integration, before the wines 18 month maturing period in large French oak barrels (15% new).

Main Divide Chardonnay 2018

Main Divide Chardonnay 2018

Waipara, New Zealand
  • A second label with first flavours providing outstanding value
  • From the Waipara stable of Pegasus Bay, the Main Divide label that has enough attention grabbing characteristics as the mountain range it’s named after.
  • Citrus and mineral acid flavours are dominant, as soon as you experience this wine, subsiding to the softer fruits of melon and peach after the wine mellows in your mouth. Evidence of the 18 months spent in old oak appears as buttered toast characteristics. But it is the backbone of mineral acid that defines this wine showing some serious hang time in the mouth. Ultimately this is a great value Chardonnay with great flavour complexity perfect to accompany dishes, like an apricot chicken or prawn salad.
