MOUTCDTRED14

Mouton Cadet Rouge 2014

Bordeaux, France
LambBeef
  • Number 1 selling Bordeaux in the world!
  • Created  in 1930 as a second label to the illustrious first growth Chateau Mouton Rothschild by legendary vintner- young Baron Phillippe de Rothschild.
  • Translate the name and you have the perfect dish to match this famous red - Lamb.

Mouton Cadet was created in 1930 by Phillippe de Rothschild just 8 years after he took the reins of the famous grand marque Mouton-Rothschild from his dad. While the rest of his extended family carried on with Rothschild banking urber-dynasty, Phillipe enjoyed life as a successful playwright, Grand Prix driver, and as it happens a world class vintner. It was with this skill he made the decision that the 1930 Bordeaux vintage didn’t quite cut the mustard to go into the number one label, so he created a second label and named after himself Cadet – being the youngest son. This stroke of genius turned out to be the birth of the biggest selling Bordeaux wine of all time! Predominately Merlot this ‘Little Lamb’ goes best with – yep you guessed it – lamb. Alternatively this delicious red would happily cosy up to a rib eye steak or duck breast.
