Jo Nash winemaker at McPherson Wines went rogue one day, as she was inspecting the harvest from a single mountain vineyard located in the Grampians region of Victoria. Instantly realizing the parcel was something special Jo quietly hid the juice at the back of the winery in some super expensive 500l French barrels, telling the cellar crew not to tell Gary - the company accountant. It can be said a wine cellar is great place to keep a secret, and thank goodness they did. After a year it turns out Jo was spot on with her hunch. With minimal intervention the Shiraz was left to do it's thing in the puncheons (big 500L barrels) and developed into an exceptional award winning wine. Gold, Gold, Gold all the critics said with the team at Cuisine awarding it their top Shiraz for 2020. Here's what they had to say;
" This wine is all about allowing the fruit to sing and, boy, does it; this is a delicious example of a cooler-climate shiraz with floral blueberry and blackberry fruits and just a hint of pepper spice. The succulent berry and black-fruit characters flow on through to the palate with acidity and silky tannin polish supporting a luxe finish. Perfectly described by head judge Ben as a shiraz with poise, presence and personality"
Dont Tell Gary Shiraz was a secret, but it won't be for long, so we advise to buy by the case because this wine won't last long. Speaking of lasting DTG will last for 6 years as a great little cellar secret but is equally ready to go right now...just as long as you don't tell Gary!
