Esk Valley Syrah 2018

Hawke's Bay, New Zealand
LambPizza - MeatVenison
  • Exquisite looks, gorgeous flavour, spectacular value!
  • Designed as value alternative to its multi award winning big bro (Winemakers Reserve) this quality Syrah offers exceptional value, and relishes the opportunity to be enjoyed with food.
  • Opening a bottle of Esk Valley Syrah will immediately engage your eyes, with its deeply coloured violet hue. Your attention will then refocus to the exotic floral perfumes before the experience gets classical in your mouth. Boysenberries, blackberries, red plums and pepper flavours show the fruit characters. Exotic spices and subtle oak characters display the winery influences, all concluding with some great palate hang time.
The Esk Valley classic range promotes varietal flavours in an everday drinking wine without losing the care and attention normally bestowed on Reserve Wines. The Esk Valley Syrah 2016 is testament to this by displaying classic Hawke’s Bay Syrah notes without breaking the bank. The value becomes even more remarkable once you trace back this wines journey into the bottle. It all starts with hand harvesting ripe quality fruit from intensively managed vines. The fruit then gets a bit of traditional treatment with fermentation in the old school concrete vats in the Esk Valley winery. An array of indigenous and inoculated yeasts adds layers of complexity to the Syrah before 18 months of barrel time. End result is an extremely approachable Syrah combining classic Rhone styled flavours with new world Hawke’s Bay fruit. All this, and it’s extremely friendly to food and your cellar!

Te Mata Awatea 2018

Te Mata Awatea 2018

Hawke's Bay, New Zealand
  • The little bro of the iconic Coleraine
  • But compared with it's big brother, Awatea is a positive bargin at half the price and is an experience to remember.
  • The 2017 vintage gave the Awatea intense powerful characters with a persistance tannin structure to give it life after the recommended cellaring time of 8-10 years. This intense claret experience welcomes you in with concentrated plums, blackcurrants, and blackberries. After which the warm reception extends into fine tannins with characters of chocolate, baked cedar, a savoury liquorice
