TRAPOAKCBS16

Trapiche Oak Cask Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Mendoza, Argentina
  • Big taste, little money
  • Argentina’s Wine Producer of the Year, Trapiche have been making spectacular wines for 125 year and rich Cabernet is no exception.
  • A year in oak gives this 100% Cab Sauv its name and its soul, but its personality is all dark berries and velvety tannins. Brilliant with strong cheeses or well seasoned red meats this wine delivers a big bodied taste for a small body of money!
The Trapiche Oak Cask Cabernet Sauvignon over delivers with unbelievable value on such a quaffable red. Grown in the foothills of the Andes, Trapiche uses the philosophy of biodynamics and the incredible expertise winemaker Daniel Pi to create such wickedly good value wines like the Oak Cask Cabernet Sauvignon. Guided under the power and spirit of the Andes Condor, this Cabernet reinforces the majestic power of the Condor, while adding great value you love getting with South American reds. This 100% pure Cabernet Sauvignon although produced in big volumes was crafted with care and attention of a boutique wine, including hand harvested and berry sorting grapes, off five high altitude vineyards in Mendoza. A year in French and American Oak bestows the wine its name and infuses the wines oak soul. But before the oak you will encounter a dedicated array of blackberry, cassis, and blackcurrant flavours mixed in with odd dried herb. The chewy velvety tannins remind you that it is pure Cabernet Sauvignon in your glass, before relinquishing their grip to the finishing characters of tobacco, and chocolate covered boysenberries.

Tatty Bogler Pinot Noir 2013

Tatty Bogler Pinot Noir 2013

Central Otago, New Zealand
  • The Scottish guardian delivers up a yummy Pinot
  • ‘Tatty Bogler’ is a Scottish scarecrow protecting the ripen grapes from the ravages of hungry birds – like ourselves thirsty to try the next great vintage.
  • This Otago wine blends the sweet fruit of Bannockburn with the layered earthiness of the Waitaki Valley to give a rustic fruit driven Pinot, Scottish in personality, but New Zealand by birth. Tatty Bolger’s personality starts with black cherry, bramble, and wild thyme scents. To follow this wine presents flavours of fresh plums and red cherries, with moderate oak and tannin characteristics to break up the sweet fruit. Brambles, spice and savoury flavours follow and will grow with time.
