The Fromm team a quite mean to these 21 yr old vines, they haven't given them a drink since 2004
, but the vines have dug deep and produced a stunning grape reward.
Partner it with a roast pork, or herb seasoned lamb rack, or a mixed lamb and chicken kebab with all the typical toppings

For many, Syrah grown any further south than Hawke’s Bay is a bit of an oddity, but some of NZ’s finest undiscovered Syrah talent comes from the very edge of Syrah’s comfort zone. Proudly representing Marlborough, Fromm’s La Strada Syrah is one such drop. After almost 21 years in the dirt these old dry farmed (no irrigation) Syrah vines dig deep to find a drink, and you get the grape reward.
This biodynamically grown Syrah expresses itself with blackberries and cracked black pepper in a more elegant style, rather than forming a palate busting tannic grip in your mouth. But dpn’t be dismayed all you tannin lovers this medium bodied Syrah still manages an ample amount of textural tannin grip that is delivered alongside characters of cinnamon, nutmeg and provincial herbs. If you can leave this experience untouched, these tannins will grow with age,
