“Ice Ice Baby”
Its New Zealand’s chilly version of ‘Ice Wine’ with the most kiwi of all the grapes. Spy’s Iced Sauvignon is only a handful of NZ made Ice Wines available.
The 2012 Iced Sauvignon Blanc delivers a delectable sweet wine experience, as good as any of the more traditionally styled sweet attractions crafted from Noble Rot, or a late harvest.
Spy Valley Iced Sauvignon Blanc takes the unique process of crafting Ice Wine and applies to our most famous grape. Off the vines of the Johnson Estate C Block, Spy Valley started this unique desert wine process after a winter frost on the 26
th
June 2012. After hand harvesting the iced up little Sauvignon grape berries they were then further frozen to -22°C. The secret of Ice Winemaking was then enacted by pressing the grape juice out, while the water in the berries is still frozen. This releases a highly concentrated juice jam-packed with lots of natural sugar for all those sweet-tooths out there. From here the talented skills of Paul Bourgeois and Kathy-Lee Sowman took over, to craft not only one of the best ‘cryoextracted’ wines in NZ, but also a stunning sweet sensation equally as good as any of the more traditionally styled desert wine experiences. Spy Valley Iced Sauvignon is the perfect indulgent with fruit infused cheese or with an after dinner treat!
