If you’re after a Lion of a Shiraz, your wish has been granted with Dandelion Vineyards. This Barossan baby is definitely the king of South Australia granting its young winemaker three gold medals and a trophy, not mention a nod from James Halliday as one of the Top 10 Best New Wineries in Australia. Dandelion Vineyards is joint venture between three wine families. The latest rising Australian winemaking star Elena Brooks and her husband Zar together with Carl, Peggy, Fiona and Brad. Lionheart is grown on Carl and Peggy’s Barossan vineyards where Carl tends to 100+ year old gnarly vines. You get your lion share of blackberries and plums with this Aussie followed by characters of spicy Xmas pudding and dark chocolaty tannins. Just like the vines and winegrower Carl its old school unfined and unfiltered so pop it in a decanter before enjoying with rich stews or full flavoured game meats.
