Block 17 (nicknamed the Plateau vineyard) has been a pretty solid purchase for the Saint Clair crew, situated on Omahu Road in the world renowned Gimblett Gravels. Over the years it has proved a bling magnet for the Cabernet, Merlot and other varieties grown on it. Saint Clair's top Bordeaux blend 'Pioneer Block 17 Plateau Block Cabernet Merlot 2018 (to give it's full name) before it was even released, picked up Gold at NZ Wine of the Year Awards 2019 and a 5 star Top 5 in the Cuisine 2020 Bordeaux tasting.
