Each year Mr Esk (Gordon Russell) crafts a stunning Rosé predominately from Merlot grapes sourced from across the Hawke’s Bay. The 2021 edition returns to grape partnership of Merlot and Malbec. Regarded as one of the best in NZ this dry Rosé represents outstanding value given the size of its medal cabinet pulling in the bling since its inaugural 1991 vintage. The brief is simple – utilise each vineyard site to bring their own characteristics into the wine, time the skin/colour extraction perfectly and ferment cold for vibrant fruit flavours.
