Flavours of the vineyard include an energized white peach and citrus from the grapes, a fresh ocean breeze provides a touch of salinity. Layered texture is provided by a hint of oak and helped by a silty loam soil, which also provides the underlying stony minerality.

In 1984 the industry players all thought James Millton was certified crazy when he committed to an organic philosophy of winegrowing. Crazy, yes all about nature. Certified, yes by Biogro NZ for organic and Demeter for biodynamics. Shotberry is a blend of two of the estate’s certified vineyards – Riverpoint and Opou each with own terroir displaying their own characteristics. Being crazed by nature you craft wine where the nature tells the story, a true expression of the environment. Sirius by design looks at this philosophy to create a fruit forward style producing characteristics that give you an insight to its happy home. White peach and citrus bring the grapes energy, while a touch of salinity comes from the fresh ocean breeze. Texture is provided by the hint of oak. This is helped by the silty loam which also provides the underlying stone minerality.

Citrus and mineral acid flavours are dominant, as soon as you experience this wine, subsiding to the softer fruits of melon and peach after the wine mellows in your mouth.
